Frequently asked questions about fees
Listed below are the answers to common questions I get asked. If you have any further questions, please get in touch by phone or email.
Do you offer concessions or low-cost counselling?
Yes - I try to make counselling as accessible as possible. If you're receiving benefits or on a low income and are concerned about the financial commitment, please let me know.
Will I have to pay for the introductory session?
Yes - this session is important because it helps us decide if we could work well together and provides the foundations for any future work.
The session would cost my standard counselling fee (as above) or an agreed concession based on your circumstances.
How often would we meet for counselling?
We need consistency to build our working relationship and make progress in counselling, so we would meet weekly or fortnightly, on a day and at a time that we've agreed between us.
Will I be charged for cancelling a session?
I require a minimum of 24 hours notice for cancellations - if you're unable to provide this you will be charged a £20 cancellation fee.
How long would I come for counselling?
Many people commit to 6 sessions at first, and I would certainly recommend this for you.
The number of sessions can depend on many things, including how quickly we connect and establish trust, and what you'd like to achieve.
For some people, short-term counselling (6-12 sessions) is enough, yet I often work with people for longer than this.
